You may want to use a break below the daily ATR of each stock and adjust your position size smaller. That way, the dollar hit if you get stopped out would be the same as a larger size/tighter stop.

FYI, I am not going to try and do the 1.5% thing. Putting all the eggs in one stock for the week seems too risky, and I'm convinced that eventually just a few disasterous weeks would kill a port like that. Why not let your winners run? I AM of the opinion though that people shouldn't be investing in 'dead' stocks, and some amount of consideration should go into picking stocks with good average % changes (or some other measure of volitility).

Good luck with NSS! You know why too . The other's I am not too familiar with, but I will check back to see which ones are doing well. Maybe I'll set up a Yahoo! portfolio to track these. I too am looking at AKAM. Hate to admit it, but it was brought to my attention by Cramer. Not that I am endorsing his show or admitting that I watch it religiously, but on occasion I watch his circus act just to get more exposure to the investing public. Do you have any other info on AKAM, and what is your time horizon? Thanks.

By the way, 2 outta 3 ain't bad- "Winning Percent 66.67%" WOW!!! But, of course, we must respect the HUGE ONE's 100% success rate.

Actually, I'm not sure why you mention NSS. AKAM was on the list last week too and was up pretty well, and it helped move it up the list too. Time frame wise, I don't have one ( I don't really research any of these stocks, its just what shows up on a screen). What's on the screen stays there until its 4 week % change lags behind or its P/E gets too high, or its ROI drops.

My guess is that because so many of last week's names are on the list this week too and because several of the stocks were up over 5% (some even over 10 and 15%) that the performance this week will probably be lower because many of them look like they need a rest.

                    Cure for a flat market

As most of you probably know, the dow is near (or surpassed, can't really remember) a 6-year high. The Naz, on the other hand, remains well below its hey-day highs in 1999. And although the Naz has been on a roll these past few months, its still pretty flat compared to the breathtaking rise and breakneck fall of the late 90's. So I was thinking, how does someone invest in the broad market if its flat?

One idea I had was to use bollinger bands, and a custom trigger/stop line to catch the little (and some big) moves up and down. Backtesting this strategy from May '99 til now generated 138 trades (69 long, 69 short) with an average gain of 1.496% It underperformed a Buy and Hold of the Naz for the first few months, as the Naz was rallying hard, but since then it has consistently outperformed B&H.

                    Stats:
                    Average Win: 5.65%
                    Average Loss: -3.03%
                    W/L Ratio 0.5

Attached is a link to a spreadsheet with nice charts and data.

ITRI, MTW, : maybe I'd let it pull back some. For some reason, I don't really like stocks that gap really big in one day. I prefer to see a 15-25% gain over a 3-5 day period with above average volume. IMHO, one day big gainers are often one trick ponies.

ARTG: If you're long, thank god it didn't break the 50 SMA. I'd wait to see which way it goes.

CLEC: I hold it as my pick for the POTW this week. Its become reallyl active because earnings will come out on tuesday, and traders/hype has taken over. Don't know much about the biz.
