TA vs. FA ..... a contest

My pick is ABAX. I had to show both the daily and the weekly charts to show both the cup formation basing pattern and the developing ascending triangle pattern. I've annotated the charts so they're self-explanatory. I'll place a buy limit order to trigger at $13.20 tomorrow morning. My stop will be below the LOD on Friday which was 12.83 so I'll place my stop at 12.75 to give it alittle extra breathing room. My target is $15 but if it goes the way I think it will an it goes above 14.25 I would raise my stop to 14.25 and let it run out. This gives me a r/r of .42% if it does reach 14.25 where I would raise the stop the first time. If it continues to go up I would raise my stop in increments of .50 as it continues up until it either stops out or stalls an I bail on my own accord. If it does reach my planned target of $15 or more the r/r on the initial plan would be .25% instead of .42%. My normal stop loss point is 7%, which in this case would be $13.20 - .92 or $12.27 but I'm keeping a little tighter rein on the position as we do want to insure that we kick ass. No backup plan here on another stock if this one doesn't trigger at $13.20. This is a real one for me so if it triggers at $13.20 tomorrow I will own a full position in it.

LOL I don't think there are rules yet...You know the TA's team had to take the initiative while these lazy bums (FA's) just sat around all weekend and watched football and drank beer.

We're just posting some picks assuming that this week the contest is on.

I thought the whole idea of having this contest, I hate that word for little scenairo, was to put forth the reasoning for your picks to illustrate the what and why behind the stock choices. Personally speaking, I would like to see the fundamentals that are the reasoning for your choices otherwise we're just pissing in the wind. No big deal but I was kind of looking forward to that. What happens if the FA guys don't get it off with their choices an our TA picks go off tomorrow. Then we have to come up with different picks. That's like picking two winners in a row. Not that us TA guys couldn't do that an aren't up to it.

Oh, and Ski, if you're going to trail a stop as she rises, post it so there's no question of intentions. It'll only count if we can show price was above your stop when you put it in.

Our rules : buy a stock .... sell it when it goes up or hold it until you're tired of it. My pick PCU . Thanks to New-born who spotted it months ago. I think it will go up.

Thought the purpose behind all of this was to give an explanation of the fundamental reasoning for selecting your specific picks before the selection was placed. I for one was wanting to see that from you guys so that maybe we learned something new about the fundamental end of it or the research behing each contestants mindset. I'm dissapointed.

Ok, I admit I owe a bit more to the contest than "buy AMLN" but I did pretty clearly spell out my reasoning for this pick in the AMLN thread. Please check out that thread for some detail (and most of what I find relevant to picking AMLN as a good fundamental bet). Nothing about my pick has changed though, I still believe it's going to increase in price just as it's increasing its sales week by week. I do have some other picks for backup, just in case the numbers don't work quite as well for AMLN this week as I think they will. I'll know soon enough, though, as scrip data is out for AMLN every Monday morning around this time.

Here's the data up until now. Notice that it's been just blowing away estimates so far. As real revenues begin to show up for AMLN for the first time, the share price will begin to recognize that this is no longer just a biotech company.

Sorry I don't have anything fancier for this stock, but to me the argument for owning AMLN is still more compelling than anything else I could find at the moment.

$$$Mr Market$$$ includes complete FA with his picks, along with a humorous intro. I say that those of us on the FA team should follow his fine example and do similar interesting and well thought out dd and post a breif reason as to why we like our pick.

Now if that's agreed upon by my fellow team mates we can call that a RULE.
You can't just say; "I picked it, I kinda think it'll go up, I think I posted something about it in another thread, go read the yahoo message board, I'll throw a dart, my brother-in-law likes it bullcrap. THAT AIN"T FA!!!!
If our team captain wishes to deligate team rule making to me I'd be happy to offer some more ideas so we look somewhat respectable as we go up against the TA guys.... whom btw seem to have their sh*t in a freakin pile here fellas!
