That's it! Those floor traders read this site, and got ahold of your writeup!
You ought to collect some cash off of this one. I think she is going to smoke past that $59 target and give you a nice ride up to the second target. Probably ought to consider taking half off of the table at $60 though, just to keep some profits.

Computer problems , just when I needed data. Will throw in FRK as the pick of the "unknown FA er".

This is not going as I had envisioned. Blame it on the kids for messing up my computer.... no wait a minute , it was those evil TA ers with their wily technical tricks , but they can't block access to the Mr.Market site. It is too huge to be hacked. The final FA sh%# on the floor pick is MTL. Take that !

          Missed the late night fun....

Have to go with the origianl pick SWWC- buy at the open. Sell if breaks trendline.

PCU is going to hit $59 today! No need to pull any off the table just yet!

What? Did someone spike Billyjoe's coffee or something this morning? Wait a sec, what happened to 1 pick per team member? As captain (I don't recall your removing my title yet) I hereby nix your FRK and MTL picks, pending submission of mimo's and Lye's picks. They may be slow risers like me, so should get a chance to finish up their analyses/writeups like the good FAers they are.

I give them until 12 NY time (as per the original deal) to finalize their picks, otherwise we'll go with FRK and MTL at noon.

                For now, though, we've bought

                AMLN 36.68

                PCU 57.89

                HTRN 10.00

                and are holding 40% cash.

Bad billyjoe! (by the way, you can still de-captain me if you want)

                  Jiesen,
Don't know where the 12:00 NY time thing is coming from. Wasn't it opening Tuesday morn? Anyway, I thought Lye had left the building in a huff and mimo is so laid back , he , well we don't know where he is. Didn't want to risk forfeiture. Those TA guys will technicality us to death if we let them. It wasn't coffee, that stuff is bad for you. It's coke classic, with all the caffeine.

                    Jeisen,
Do you work 2nd shift or are you using the company computer? My wife is a blood chemist. I think she should start an independent home lab. The hospital throws out $250,000 analyzing machines like I chuck old coke cans. There's got to be some useful stuff for low prices. So what if it takes 30 minutes for results instead of one minute. There wouldn't be any stat results needed at the home lab. Heck I'd even haul vials around for mileage money.

                      BillyJoe,
Try the new C2 Coke. Takes like Coke Classic, with half the calories.

hmm, well I just re-read the thread and it looks like you're right, that Lye did say he's not submitting a pick this week. So I guess if you want another pick, go ahead and take FRK and/or MTL to fill out the port. But I still think we should give mimo and Lye until noon to make their selections. I thought I read it here somewhere that the FA'ers need the extra time in the morning to figure out the picks, and whatnot, but maybe that was Spike's rules in the POTW. Anyway the number 1 rule here is "it's all good"- which is why our sh*t is all over the barn!!!

So FRK/MTL mimo/Lye, I'm leaving that call up to you, Billyjoe.

                          LOL@jiesen.

Newborn, thanks for the nice pick; I like it.

But I think you missed the memo....You know, the one about having a downside plan........... lol So throw a stop in for us brother and the plan will be perfect

Tag, take note of this morning's open and learn from i (you got a stinky fill this morning at the high of day and RIGHT at old price resistance). Bear that in mind with your plan. It's a good thing to set limit orders for opening prices. This is something that CAN make a difference to your percentages. Shhh, don't tell the FA guys! haha

dmk, you alive dude? Need your updated plan thanks bro.

I work 8-5 San Diego time, which reminds me- I'm late for work!!! c-ya.

oh and yeah, starting your own lab can be lucrative, a couple of my ex-bosses did it and turned around and sold the business about 10 years later for about $200M cash.
(made the money largely off mine and my buddies' backs, charging $200+/hr for our work while paying us $20/hr)

I'll probably be banned for this post....

I say we wait till Monday to start the contest.... Why? Because poor planning never produces fine results.

We need a more structured contest. I suggest we set up some guidelines. For example: How many stocks (max) are allowed in the portfolio? How much money do we start out with. What type securities can we invest in? Must the money be equally divided between all stocks, or can we have conservative core holdings and more aggressive picks taking using a lesser % of the funds? Can we opt to go into cash if market conditions dictate? Sometimes being in cash is wise, plus the TA guys can't hold cash.... That would drive them CRAZY!.... How long does this contest last? I suggest a three month contest (quarterly) keeping weekly tabs on each portfolio's performance. How about a portfolio manager? We all can't be in charge. The team captain should appoint a portfolio manager (or do it himself), this manager has "power," he decides how the funds are to be allocated. What if a member picks a real stinker, the team should be able to decide if they like the pick or not, but it's the portfolio managers final decision.

In my view this is a team contest more so than a TA vs FA (concept) contest. Which team's portfolio can make (and retain) the most money in three months. They (TA) submit their technical reasons why they like a pick and we (FA) submit our fundamental reasons we like a pick. We all should learn from the experience.

Plus.... I haven't had time to write up my FA and submit my pick yet. lol
                              BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

                                Spike,
Disregard the stop at $14.25 as mentioned in my first post. Because we started the contest this morning and I'm figuring I got the buy at $13.70 instead of $13.20 I wouldn't place the stop until it gets over $14.70/14.75 range. But the good part about is that I bought a full position yesterday at $13.20.
