ViroPharma Incorporated (Nasdaq: VPHM) today announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a complete response letter regarding Cinryze(TM) (C1 Esterase Inhibitor [Human]) industrial scale manufacturing expansion activities. The FDA has requested additional information related to observations from the pre-approval inspection and review of the technical processes.

"We and our partner Sanquin will begin working immediately to respond to the FDA as expeditiously as possible," said Vincent Milano, ViroPharma's president and chief executive officer. "And, we plan to commence manufacturing industrial scale lots at risk in the first quarter of 2011."

Continued Milano, "We remain committed to provide patients with an uninterrupted supply of Cinryze. In addition to our efforts around our industrial scale, we expect our currently approved manufacturing process alone will yield up to 60,000 doses annually."

This is not working out as expected. I might have to take a loss and sit on the sidelines for this. But, then again, it should just be a matter of time before it makes new highs and I don't need the money currently tied up in it for another stock, so maybe I'll hold.

Anyone want to tell me what they would do?

I still have some. Need to ponder this a bit. Have been out of the country and catching up on my mail. The Nov. 17th date mentioned is coming up fast. Let's discuss further.

What smells does not please the FDA, no matter if unproven. I'm inclined to resist this buy.

That article made my eyes cross. I'm not sure if his speculation is correct regarding the recent weakness. The Nov 17 review shouldn't be anything more than a bunch of blowhards trying to sound important and cautious. What credence is a smart investor really going to give them if they don't actually make a real decision? When it comes down to it, a bunch of old men with fears of loosing their virility are going to vote YES to get medicare and medicaid to cover Provenge. That's the bottom line, isn't it?

Dang it! We should have bought BEC. Check out chart from last 30 days. From talking with the service reps. Beth says they'll be back to full strength within a year.

This stock is turning into a longer term investment than I had hoped for. I'm currently down some and thinking I might move the money somewhere else if there is a good place to put it. Wondering about the possibilities of takeover. Am thinking the geographic logistics of treatment might also be limiting for any willing pharma company.
                              Just thinking out loud here.
