Well this finally paid off big. Methinks biotechs may require patience I don't have.

Good going! IMHO they're all a crap shoot. AMRN is now $1.07 and is having trouble reporting Dec. 31st results. Yikes. http://biz.yahoo.com/e/150112/amrn8-k.html

Dendreon DNDN update from SA today: Valeant Pharmaceuticals appears poised to buy bankrupt cancer vaccine maker Dendreon (OTCPKNDNQ) after another potential buyer dropped out of the bidding process, Reuters reports. Valeant (NYSE:VRX) has agreed to pay $400M for the assets of Dendreon, best known for its prostate cancer vaccine, Provenge.

Still trying to recover from the overnight 75% haircut I took couple of years ago.

The Comeuppance. If you haven't been following this story, time to do so. It has been of special interest to me, as a former medical technologist for more years and more venipunctures than I care to admit to. Please Google Theranos for the ongoing sordid saga. I mean, I understand the possible ignorance of Henry Kissinger in this area, but The Cleveland Clinic??? Don't you people actually LOOK before you LEAP??? This story is from the NY Times this morning. When you get the inevitable NYT advert, use your back arrow to get to the story. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/30/bu...&nlid=47075250

River, I was always told that finger sticks could give unusual results especially if the finger is squeezed to get more blood. There were some shady characters in my town a few years ago that claimed to have small, almost miraculous, blood analyzing machines at their office that could do almost any test at a fraction of the cost of the hospital lab. You'd be surprised at the identity of one of the doctors.

Please don't keep me in suspense! LOL Actually when I started we used ear lobe sticks for all the hematology. And yes, you are absolutely right about the finger sticks. BTW, for RBC and WBC counts we used diluting pipettes at the bedside (suck up the blood to the first mark, suck up the diluting fluid to the second mark, manually shake to mix well). Mrs. Billy doesn't know what fun she missed!

River any comment on EXEL ? FDA Ruling coming out on 11/11/15 , and I know you are reluctant to buy before FDA results, but any comments you could add would be appreciated . Apparently Motley Fool likes EXEL along with 2 others. Read This: http://www.fool.com/investing/genera...mpaign=article.
Thank you and have a beautiful day! P7

Biotechs, in general, are taking a beating. The odds of EXEL getting FDA approval are pretty good. But there is worry out there about the competition. Low volume trading right now. Again, based on market conditions for biotechs, crap shoot as to stock price after approval. Shorts might take it down. If my palms were not still sweaty from recent horrific personal experience in this space, might take a nibble under 6, preferably in lower part of range near 5.50. Volume should increase, as well as price in short term. See if you can take profit in a possible run-up to 11/11 (and earnings on 11/10, whew, what are they going to say? The future depends on approval?). I wouldn't hold through approval. Too unpredictable in this market. If holding through earnings, sell in AH before it gets halted.

A well written summary of Theranos' problems to date. More bad news on the horizon. http://www.foxbusiness.com/technolog...deal-unravels/

Winter is just around the corner. Time to get out the black turtlenecks? Maybe the media is just piling on as they seem to be with Ronda Rousey.

The classic Silicon Valley story of Theranos, the medical test company, has been embraced without the peer review common in medicine.

Thank you for the articles. For those of us (including Mrs. BJ and Cleveland Clinic) who REALLY DO KNOW BETTER, makes me want to throw up. Yup, gotta go buy a black turtleneck so I can be a billionaire with accolades. Sounds like I can check all those boxes too (except for the green juices, ugh).

River, Elizabeth Holmes says it's all a misunderstanding. When she stated "a little prick" she wasn't referring to a finger stick but 1 or several of Theranos' board of directors.
