Interesting little feature on CNBC with a lady reporting from Beijing that stores are running short of food and she saw people going in and buying as much fresh stuff as they could. No doubt the government will stop that but it shows how the virus stuff is having widespread effects I never would have thought of.

I wonder if we’re prepared for a real pandemic. It was way before our times, so most people don’t realize the devastation the last great pandemic, the Spanish Flu, caused in 1918. It infected 1/3 of the world’s population at the time or 500 million people. Over 20 million people died worldwide including 675,000 Americans, making it more deadly for Americans than any war we have been involved in. With modern modes of transportation, I expect that a super germ would spread even faster today than it did in 1918. Of course in 1918, antibiotics were in their infancy so we have that going for us, but that won’t help against a viral superbug. This situation is pretty scary.

A few days later on 9/4 he rang the opening bell on the NYSE and sat with the morning CNBC crew to talk about Ezekiel Elliott's new contract and pump his new company. In two weeks the stock went from 6 something to 10 something giving Jones a paper profit of 1/3 of a billion $. Now back in the low sixes it looked like a good buy. Latest 10Q shows tons of debt but a near break even despite low gas prices. Jerry is now looking at acquiring other properties from distressed gas producers. This is more a bet on Jerry Jones than CRK or gas. I figure he's smart enough to engineer a big profit out of the whole thing. Might take a while though.

Added to CRK at $5.57, no news just the price of gas I figure.

Interesting month for rates. I always like to watch the 10-year. Started the month at 1.88, now quoted by CNBC at 1.54.

Very nice. 1976. I was just lookin' at this, something else from before I was born I enjoy. Takes him three minutes to sing but I enjoyed it. Features Seeger's grandson Tao (in between them) and Guthrie's three daughters.

Fibtimer's Small Cap indicator has turned bearish. S&$ 500, Nasdaq 100, Dollar, Bond and Gold indicators still Bullish.

A/D line for S&P 500 turned down briefly but resumed upward path:

I don't know when the Nifty 50 list was compiled. I remember going to the S.S. Kresge store as a child. It was sort of a poor relative of Woolworths at the time. S.S. Kresge lived to the ripe old age of 99 and passed away in 1966. In 1977 S.S. Kresge stores were renamed K-Mart.
