    Spike,
I have a question you most likely will be able to answer for me. On the Medved Quotetrader realtime screen on the Raw Data screen when the volume number comes up in red is that a short sale. I'm assuming the green is for a long buy but not sure what the red is indicative of. Also sometimes it comes up black. What is the difference? Thanks.

          Spike,
Didn't know you posted between my posts on the CSB thread. Thought I somehow was deleted. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Something came up repeatedly with the reinvesting of funds on the Cheap Stock Port this week and wondered if it was a coincidence or not. According to my rules all money from stopped positions is reinvested in the leading performers at the next days opening price. Many people don't believe in buying for the first hour or so the market is open. All my top 3 positions gapped up at the open , 2 of 3 did it today. My initial investment gains on the open, then I added the funds from closed out positions, the stock goes down and is stopped. What was gained on the gap up is lost on the stopped new money. Luckily the 2% stop didn't take away much. Is this very common since these gaps are in the best stocks? It seems I'd gain a lot by reinvesting an hour or two after the market opens. What would you do? Is this just nit-picking?

Ya, that's probably a wise thing to do; wait for the correction to support; perhaps gap support. Maybe your system should have the rule that on a gap up, you can only add at gap support, or if you do add above the gap, it's at price support that shows it's held twice and buy the third test of support, with a stop right under it so that the add is only risking a tiny amount, and the original position is allowed to stay open as per any protection rule you've got. I agree that adds have the huge ability to eat into your profits when they are poorly timed. When on a tight leash the out of control dog can't jump on the table and steal your steak. But the problem with leashing it is that you may miss out on upside volatility because you're trying to control downside volatility.

Could still go to 475-500 before a good correction to fill some gaps. Right now, trend is up, you've got that runaway gap in October, and still no pattern to support short. Long ain't wrong yet.

I myself dont use it too much since God made menopause but my visitors will think I am rather cheap. True, but dont need to advertize it so clearly.

                      • Looks like I'm right on GOOG today.

The reason I said it looks like GOOG is in trouble is because it broke intraday trendline. Anyone else have experience on intraday patterns? Lately I'm noticing some strong intraday trends in some stocks I follow, and it seem that any break signifies turns. No idea how to tell the direction though.

I've been using them to pick entry condition with good results.

Hey sisterwin2, re D2OL I haven't been running the D2OL program for a while (oh the shame!), but you are more than welcome to use my email address if you want. I'm looking for inspiration to running that or a similar program.

I'm actually seriously thinking of running SETI (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/) so that I can help in the search for Webs the Vulcan.

Us earthlings could benefit from his huge stock-picking prowess.

Oil, daily channel resistance at 60.50, but the weekly shows it may be coming off a 'c' long setup. If that count is right, I'd expect the channel to bust, and then a daily long to buy into.

I just changed market bias back to bearish. Daily and intraday clearly bearish, and I'm not gonna fight it, especially after stopping out of my last YM! Back to stalkin'. Will be shorting the right kind of strength intraday today.

Coli, credit for getting today's direction right thus far. However GOOG is far from 'in trouble'; that's a phrase I like to reserve for a stock that has serious bearishness about it, which GOOD doesn't...... yet at least. But sure, GOOG is due for correction, but bills get paid late all the time. It actually could be coming off an inverted SHS intraday, albeit rather steep. If my bias wasn't now bearish I'd be buying GOOG calls (GOPLD) at 6.00....but I shall refrain.

As for trendline breaks, they can work very well in the right conditions. I like neckline breaks and triangle trendlines, where the pattern in there. But there are plenty of trendline breaks that don't lead to anything but a stopout. It's just like any other TA method Coli; it's not so much as the tool, but the master who uses it. It comes down to r/r and being disciplined every time.

Good tradin' dude, and post some setups you spot!
