My understanding--remember, it is an incomplete understanding of brokerage firms--is that when you buy these via pink sheets, you cannot get streaming quotes. The reason: they are purchased manually. Human interaction. That is my understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong.

These are great safe havens as long as the demand for oil remains. I think that will be awhile yet.

Suggestion: what AE.UN or whatever Acclaim Energy Trust's symbol is on the pink sheet. If you can get her to bounce down to 14.50 CD (that would be 1.75 or less US), I'd buy it up as fast as I could.
    New-born:
Thanks for all your help. You are correct that I cannot get streaming quotes and must use limit orders only. However, from what I can determine, ACNJF opened today at 12.56 and has been trading at 12.375-12.60. I am not sure what the exchange rate is today.

      Exchange Rate

      Gator,

You might benefit from reading the entire thread over again. The exchange rate can be found at:

Get the best currency exchange rates for international money transfers to 200 countries in 100 foreign currencies. Send and receive money with best forex rates.

I'd say today or tomorrow is probably as good as it is going to get for awhile. The reason is that oil is so high lately (almost $50 today). These Cans increase the divy when the oil price gets high because the govt makes them do it to retain their tax-exempt status. AE is on the verge of having to do so. All the cans I listed are good stocks and pay well and safe.

I was looking at the wrong stock, but if the charts outline the divy right it should have been paid around the 12th of jan? Is there a place I can find more info about Acclaim?

                AE.UN will pay $.1625CAD distribution on 2/18/2005. The ex-date is 1/27/2005 (today).
                Happy investing,

My opinion is worth no more than the price you paid for me to give it.

                  Why today.

                  Investors,

I suggested you buy AE, NVG, PMT, etc today because today is the ex-dividend day. That means you had to buy PMT, etc yesterday to get the dividend to be paid on 2-15-2005. USUALLY, PMT, AE and all the other drop more than the dividend. However, oil is so high right now, that people are not selling these shares in the hopes that with Spring driving ahead, prices may rise even more, and divys may increase even more. Therefore, I am thinking that this is about the best time to buy "units" as the Canadians call them.

If you wish to find information about one of these trusts, just type the name of the trust you wish to research into your Google search, and look it up on the internet.

These really are very good investments.

                    Greetings,
Not to nitpick, but I disagree, the drop rarely occurs during the ex date - record date.
PGH ex date last month was dec 30,record date was jan 3,price drop occured jan 4 and 5.

IMO anyone who bought a canroy for the dist would not sell in the ex - record timeframe,as you wouldnt qualify for the dist.

My play next week is PGH,ex date is tomorrow, and record date is next tuesday.
                    I look for a drop to 19.50,and a return to 21+ within a week.

The only snag could be Iraqs elections,if its a free for all,and oil is crazy, the drop will be minimal IMO.

See you all next wednesday,Ill post my trade.

                    cordially Tom

BTW thanks Spike for the warning on SWIR,saved me 40%.

Would you like to make 17.5+%?

                          Investors,

NAV ENERGY TRUST (NVG.UN on the TSX) currently sells for $10.25 CD. Its monthly dividend is .15 CD, for a yearly average return (cash on cash they call it) of 17.51%.

                          Here's a play for you:
The US dollar has strengthened a little vs. the Canadian dollar today. $.8040 US will get you $1.00 Canadian. NVG SHOULD sell for $10.25 X .8040= $8.24 USD. Now, if you call your Scottrade acct. broker and place a limit bid for less than the current exchange rate, oftentimes the brokers will wiggle your buy under the current price. In other words, you could place a limit for $8.20 USD and you just might get it today. And then you could very well earn more than 17.51% on your investment: if the exchange rate bounces back, and/or if the price appreciates.

                              What?

                              BillyJoe,

Sorry, I've never heard of it. When I went to Yahoo finance, they haven't heard of it either. Are you sure of the symbol? 5svy? Doesn't sound right.
