I was thinking that if anyone wanted to explain why they made a specific play in their ports it would be great to see that. I've noticed that we haven't really been talking about our positions and why we're in them. No big but feel free to post anything about any of them anytime. There have been some pretty decent trades and I bet if someone were to calculate the cumulative average over the past 4 weeks or so the results would be suprising. I really would be interested in hearing why you were brought to your making these trades. Riverbabe, you have been putting up some very decent numbers with your trades. I would love to hear the reasoning and plan behind some of your trades. It doesn't matter if they are winners or losers. It's always good to talk about what you thought or were looking for in a position that went down and ended up a loser.

Heading out to NYC for the day and evening. Annual run into the city to do some shopping and check out all the sites. Rockefeller Center and the tree is lit now and Macy's and all the other shops are decorated for Christmas. The city will be brimming with out of towners and it's a great day for people watching which is my favorite. My wife will be poking me every five minutes saying, "Ed you're staring".

reasoning:
Ski,
I sold PDGE because I thought the upgrade by Rodman and Renshaw was amy chance to get out of a bad trade with a break-even (I could always get back in)
I sold WSCI because it did not perform the way I had anticipated in the time period I targeted
I sold GNA because the trade was not panning out the way I had anticipated in the time period I targeted. The rest of the steel industry and the market were making moves while GNA was basically staying flat.
I sold SMSI because it was a bad trade, plain and simple
I sold SBAC because I had a better place for that money and I think I'll make more money, faster with the other investment... nothing wrong with SBAC
LOGC was a perfect intraday trade that I have been stalking for months now. It finally hit on the news, and I made quick money and got out!
I bought LOGI and LRCX because LOGI is in breakout mode, and I like LRCX technical breakout possibilities
also, Ski, I need you to list my WNR trade. I bought it exactly at $28. I like the sector and I like the breakout that WNR is formingHide not your talents.
They for use were made.

reasoning
Hi Ski,
I sold IAAC because it was a big momentum play and, after watching it start to fall back and/or oscillate in the past week, I wanted to protect my profits. Looking to maybe buy back lower. Great company, like GROW.
THQI, BBI, GME and AAPL were sold to protect profits only because all the gurus are saying we're due for a big market pull back, most likely starting next week. My favorite guru is getting bearish and looking for shorting opportunities and, believe me, when he speaks I listen! Also, the market is so volatile right now, and toppy, I feel much more comfortable being in cash. But will keep looking for opportunities, and intend to buy back these shares on any pull back, if the charts read in my favor.
I have a very large position in SAI, which reports earnings 12/11. It has been dropping to very close to my average cost. Also, the analysts are currently down on it. As an IPO, it doesn't have a long enough chart period to read, so I'm trying to figure out whether to bail now and buy again lower. My previous experience tells me to do just that. I think I'll listen to my gut on this one.
As for ENER, I'm trying to decide whether to just bite the bullet and put the $$ to better use and try to make back the loss elsewhere.
Also, am paying attention to shorting opportunities to actually make my first short trade.
Hope this helps. Riverbabe

MO--waiting on one or two spinoffs decent gain less than 2 months to wait, nice divy
SAI--if they have a bad report now it doesn't say much for defense stocks
GOOG--going higher current dip will weed out the unsure
AES-- alternative energy big European exposure benefits from weak dollar
NYX--still in infancy great potential especially after Euronext deal
CNE-- Canadian trusts abnormally discounted , huge dividend , coming back
AAPL---in a league of their own already dominating Christmas sales
WLT---more spinoff with MWA, up 10% in anticipation
HAL--- another spinoff in KBR , the evil stepchild, has cleaned up act

The Crystal Ball is never wrong...When I heard Cowen was starting I knew it was over...Now, On Nebraska vs. Oklahoma...The Ball is foggy...I just want NE to win because I am a BIG RED Alumnus...So whatever happens it won't count against the Crystal Ball's record.
But...The crystal ball says that if Nebraska plays Rutgers in a bowl game...Big Red wins...If Michigan plays OH St...Mich wins"Trade What Is Happening...Not What You Think Is Gonna Happen"
