Long day but worth it if you're into skiing.
Four hours is about right, I know its just over 100 miles from here to Hanover, NH which is on the VT border. I've never been up to Suicide Six, I just like the name.

I've skied most slopes in Vt. but have never heard of Suicide 6 mountain before you mentioned it. I feel stupid thinking that you were talking about 6 hrs. driving time being suicidal. Stratton is my favorite in Vt. Beautiful village, bed and breakfasts, shops, apres ski and totally great skiing. Many steep, narrow, and twisting fir lined slopes make for great skiing especially if it's snowing. It gets very quiet because of the trees and when it's snowing the combination is superb. They also have a large gondola lift to the top of the mountain which is advantageous when it's windy, 0 degrees, and blizzard conditions. One 4 hour lesson from an instructor in the morning and you would be skiing the intermediate slopes in the afternoon. We should get a group together from here and set up a weekend up there or Hunter or Windham in NY.

Again I'm not really a skier, I've been and will go again but mostly I've gone with my family and the older we get the less family excursions there are, regrettably.

I've never skied, but I have ice skated. Last time I went, I fell face first and skinned my arms up. It hurt like ****, but I got up and shook it off. I didn't want anybody to think I was a whimp. jejeje

If you fell "Face First" why did your arms get skinned up?

Unfortunately, I wasn't there to witness your fall...So I'll reserve judgement on your whimpiness for the time being

I understand your confusion about what got skinned. Separately, I believe there is no h in wimp.

We've always wanted to take that train trip across the Canadian Rockies into British Colombia. Sounds like a great trip and some of the best skiing in the world. Greb, your in Syracuse. We should hook up in Vermont some weekend. Maybe Stratton or Killington. That wouldn't be to far a drive for you would it? It's about a 6.5 hr. drive from where I live in New Jersey. We could get a group together some weekend after the first of the year.

That would be doable for me Greb. Stratton in February is great. We ski in NY through March and into April some years. Vt. is definitely open in late March/earyl April.

I'm surprised at you Louetta...The "h" is used in the olde English Style; e.g Shakespeare was a "whimp"

I see the use of e.g., denoting only an example. For more info turn on Michael Wood's series Searching For Shakespeare, on right now in Boston on Channel 44, PBS (actually Channel 16 in this age of cable). According to Wood, Shakespeare was a pretty cool guy, struggled early on to support a large extended family, later his plays pulled huge crowds (2000+ at some performances). A charismatic fellow the implication is he got all the chicks he wanted. Had the stones to write plays not flattering to the royals (Richard III)At any rate not hint of wimpishness.

Louetta...That was just an example as you noted...But I'll tell 'ya...A Midsummer Night's Dream really put me to sleep...LOL...I refused to read it after the first sentence in 11th grade...However, the teachers were hip to the Cliff Notes scams:

                        http://education.yahoo.com/homework_..._nights_dream/

But they were really stupid in general as they didn't take the time to research the many other resources I had for conning them...I know I spent more time in HS and College getting around the system than following it...I even had one Student Teacher in 12th grade Gov't...from USC... tell me straight out..."You are the biggest con-artist I ever met"...My response was..."Thanks, I take that as a compliment"...I'll never forget Miss Stone...Or should I say Ms Idealist???

I'm sure there are a few smart professors somewhere...But the only profession that I have less respect for than teaching is law.

I sincerely hope that when you get your masters that you get out into the Real World...It is a great experience...And my favorite part about it is dealing with people that are smarter than me (or think they are)...I love the challenge and I love beating them at their own game.

Anyway...The BEST talent IMO is getting people to do what you want them to do...And letting them think they got one over on you...Nothing is sweeter...Well, almost nothing...LOL

Wimp doesn't exist in the dictionary...it's been hacked from the word...whimper and maybe in a few years it will appear as a new word.

                          Good grief...I've sunken this low?

Yep. But quitting smoking is 100 times harder as its much more addictive. But you never see a bunch of skid row bums that are addicted to cigarettes...they can't afford them.

Anyway, here's a pretty sure fire method for quitting cigarettes (it will either stop one from smoking or kill them): buy a pack of Gitanes or the other french brand, Gouillaise (sp), unwrapp them and let them set for about a month in your glove box, or better yet on the dashboard so they get nice and seasoned, then chain-smoke the whole thing in about 30 minutes. If it doesn't kill you doing so, the puking will be so severe and disgusting that every time you smell cigarettes you'll get that same feeling in the pit of your stomach.

I left cigarettes behind almost 30 years ago. Most digusting habit and a surefire killer. Never met a woman who smoked cigarettes that I enjoyed kissing although all those years that I smoked them they were probably thinking the same thing about me. No wonder I never got to 2nd and 3rd base or hit that homerun with many of them. Now it's a different story with the Yerba.

How about politicians, insurance salesmen, real estate people.

Actually its a PhD program so I won't be out in the "real world" for a while unless they kick me out.

That would be "smarter than I".

I have good luck getting people to do what I want them to do. Wouldn't call it sweet, just a matter of expedience.
