River, If the short holdings of VRNG are as high as it appears those folks may be royally screwed. Talk about indigestion ! I sold my son's F that was doing nothing to buy VRNG at 3.19. A sell at the open will give him a nice profit unless things quickly reverse.

Good thinking billy. I think court begins at 10AM. I have sell orders in at 6.88 and 7.88 trying to catch a short-squeeze gap up if it happens and will adjust these as necessary. No stops on the down side because they are useless. Trying to remember to breathe and not make mistakes.

        Billy

This guy has been reporting from courtroom last few days. Yahoo MB. Reliable.

Trial Update November 6th: Court in session & jury will be deliberating as of 10AM this morning
By edvacourt . 2 minutes 20 seconds ago . Permalink
For those concerned about how the election will effect the trial today I assume since Judge Jackson made no mention of it when he dismissed the jury yesterday he asked that they vote before 10AM or after lets say 5:30PM today if they haven't reached a verdict...which I don't think is likely. I expect a verdict based upon what I have witnessed by 3PM today. I think this will be a very good day for Vringo as I expect a significant damages award (over $110M and maybe as much as $160M) and a running royalty which paves the way for Jackson to award (possibly in the next couple of days if not today) what I think will be another $550-700M for VRNG based upon a flat growth number for GOOG which appears low as some estimates show 30-40% growth (My opinion here only folks). Who knows...maybe we walk into the courtroom today and find that Google has settled. I think that would be the smart thing but I am not witnessing what I think of as supreme wisdom from their side. I might add that I don't fault their attorneys for this.

          A little twitter humor:

Breaking: $VRNG ticker symbol changed to $HALT for convenience.

River, Was just thinking about VRNG as the sound of a phone ringing. My daughter, 24, was raised on technology and keyboarding before she could write. I showed her our old dial phone we keep in a file cabinet. She had no idea how to dial it or use that old funny machine.

I'm the treasurer of our local historical society. Around the turn of the century some ner-do-wells attempted to rob the local bank. Upstairs, at the phone exchange, the all night phone operator aged 14 slept on a cot. The bad guys gagged her, tied her up, and tried to dynamite the bank vault but it didn't work. They left town and were never caught. The girl lived to her 90's dying in the 1980's. Too bad nobody recorded her version of the crime. We do have the newspaper stories. Imagine today a 14 year old working the midnight shift alone . Times have certainly changed.

                  Hey Babe:

                  How's the stress level?
It is hard to find the Truth when you start your search with a preconceived notion of what the Truth will be.

Heh. Just fine. Ready for another ciggie but worried about having to go outside (downstairs on deck) for it. Assuming you all saw this latest from edvacourt re. latest jury question:

"Ok folks...this is getting better. The question is...If we assign a cash amount now is that in addition to the running royalty rate. Judges answer was yes but he goes further because the jury is instructed to pick a damages amount for each defendant. We already know that they have asked how far to go back when considering these damages and this makes what they are considering just that much clearer now. My guess now is that in addition to running royalties we see a considerable damages figure as I suggested in an earlier post. The judge has instructed them that if you have made a determination that a running royalty rate or lumps sum is to be used then you must go on to fill in all of the damages (by defendant) on the verdict form #3C. I'm getting excited and you should be too."

Love your stories billy. My grandmother had one of those tall black phones with the speak-into piece on a pole and the hearing-piece attached by a cord for holding against your ear. No telephone exchange needed. Our number was 55535. Re. the 14-year-old, we didn't use locks on our doors.

River, We used to have a party line with several old ladies that would gossip for hours. That ended around 1966 ?

VRNG now 4.25. At 4.50 son #1 cashes in. At 4.50 son #2 cashes in. Me, I haven't thought that far ahead yet.

10/9/12 52wk hi of 5.73, when judge denied GOOG summary judgement. That's the number guiding me to 6+ min.

                            Vrng halted. Here's the news!

Trial Update: Verdict In - Vringo Wins

Infringement determined against all defendants on all claims. Patents are valid and there was no finding of obviousness. Damages: Running Royalty based on 3.5%. Jury awarded $30 million in damages covering all defendants. It sets up for Judge Jackson to use that figure for future royalties. My guess that the total all-in to Vringo is going to be $550-$600 million.

Trading halted. I'm changing my numbers. Well it's worth a try. They accepted my cancel and replace with higher numbers. Now a waiting game.

Took a shower. Came back to see halt lifted and VRNG trading just like a biotech stock on good news. Should trade higher tomorrow after this huge sell off (I hope) and judge's rulings on running royalties. Time to go vote.
